Short History

Aviation School "Mircea Cantacuzino"

6

The Aviation School "Mircea Cantacuzino" was initially an informal entity, so starting on June 1, 1930, it operated as an Association, created in 1928 by Mircea Cantacuzino and other aviation enthusiasts, with the aim of developing an institutional platform to promote air tourism in Romania.

The school operated until 1940, being abolished when Romania entered the Second World War. All the graduates of the School were mobilized to the front, most of them becoming air martyrs on the Dniester and Carpathian fronts.

Even if it had a short life, this initiative remains an indisputable landmark in the history of aviation in Romania, offering examples of pioneering, courage, initiative, innovation and trust in a better world.

In this section of the website we invite you to discover the school through its founders, outstanding students, through the annual reports or by reading about the airplanes in the equipment.
