Alunecarea a jucat un rol important, deși L 20 din 1924 a fost un avion de instruire în final, pentru piloții care au progresat de la alunecare la zbor cu motor. Aeronava a fost echipată cu un motor de 20 CP Mercedes și în condițiile de astăzi ar putea fi desemnată ca un planor cu motor.

Gliding played an important role, but the L 20 of 1924 was the ultimate training aircraft for pilots who progressed from gliding to powered flight. The aircraft was fitted with a 20 hp Mercedes engine and to today’s terms could be designated as a powered glider.
Primele prototipuri înregistrate au fost  D-608 (pe flotoare) și D-609, după testarea unelor modificări ce s-au făcut, tipul a fost produs ca L 20B I. Cel puțin 58 au fost produse, înainte ca acestea să fie inlocuite în producție de către Kl 25 în 1927.

The first prototypes were registered D-608 (on floats) and D-609, after testing some changes were made, the type was produced as the L 20B I, at least 58 were produced, before it was replaced in production by the Kl 25 in 1927.
