Constantin "Coty" Abeles obtained his military pilot's license in September 1924, at the pilot school in Tecuci, and shortly thereafter, his flight instructor's license. In 1930, he was invited to teach at the "Mircea Cantacuzino" Aviation School. Abeles becomes one of the main flight instructors of the school, where he deals with the preparation and training of many aspiring pilots, including Marina Știrbey, Nadia Russo, "Bâzu" Cantacuzino, Virginia Duțescu.

In May 1936, he participates in an international aviation meeting in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, where he competes with 20 colleagues from Yugoslavia, Poland, Switzerland and Germany, placing 5th, the equivalent of his international consecration.

When the "Mircea Cantacuzino" Aviation School was abolished in 1939, he continued his activity as an instructor at the Prahova Aeroclub. During the Second World War, he commanded, on the Eastern Front, a transport section of Junkers 52 aircraft. This aspect of his activity will have consequences with the establishment of the communist regime in Romania. Abeles no longer finds a place in the ranks of aviation, civil or military.

He manages to leave the country, bound for Turkey, then the USA, where he settles in New York.
