Constantin „Coty” Abeles

Constantin "Coty" Abeles obtained his military pilot's license in September 1924, at the pilot school in Tecuci, and shortly thereafter, his flight instructor's license. In 1930, he was invited to teach at the "Mircea Cantacuzino" Aviation School. Abeles becomes one of the main flight instructors of the school, where he deals with the preparation and training of many aspiring pilots, including Marina Știrbey, Nadia Russo, "Bâzu" Cantacuzino, Virginia Duțescu.

In May 1936, he participates in an international aviation meeting in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, where he competes with 20 colleagues from Yugoslavia, Poland, Switzerland and Germany, placing 5th, the equivalent of his international consecration.

La desființarea Școlii de aviație „Mircea Cantacuzino”, în 1939, își continuă activitatea de instructor la Aeroclubul Prahova. În timpul celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial comandă, pe Frontul de Est, o secție de transport de avioane Junkers 52. Acest aspect al activității sale va avea consecințe odată cu instaurarea regimului comunist în România. Abeles nu își mai găsește loc în rândurile aviației, civilă sau militară.
